Counterarguments

When comes to constructing and presenting a good argument, addressing counterarguments is just as important as addressing your own argument. By acknowledging the questions and concerns that others may have toward your argument, you will help make your argument stronger. Sometimes people are afraid to address other opinions because they worry it will dissuade their audience. However, addressing them, even if they may be right in some cases, will only strengthen your argument rather than weekend it. The ideal situation is to be able to address other opinions and still have the ability to prove why your opinion is right.

When writing a counterargument, it's best to start on the same level as the people who may believe this argument, rather than being critical or dogmatic about it. Try to establish common ground with the other side and go from there. You're argument will be much stronger and more appealing to your audience when they know that you understand their point of view.
