Reflection Questions--Opinion Editorial

Goals: In some ways I was good at achieving my goals, but in other ways I wasn't. My goals were mostly about not procrastinating, and giving myself time to revise my essays. This would have worked for me, but I ended up changing the topic of my paper at the last minute. I rushed into my paper and didn't have time to revise as much as I would have liked to.

Quality: I'm most confident writing about things that are important and meaningful to me. These often come easily to me, but when I'm forcing something it never sounds as good. If I had more time I would have had more stories and meaningful arguments. I'd use more pathos. I'm proud of what I wrote about Thailand.

Writing Process: I usually write all the way through. I wrote more in sections this time and I didn't think that worked well. Next time I want to sit down and write a full draft, well in advance. Then I can go back and change things later.

What I learned: I learned about my writing process and what works best for me. The hardest part was that I'd often over think things. Since we're breaking everything down so much, I though too much about it instead of letting the words flow. Thinking about my audience's perspective was really interesting. I also learned that I need to be more confident in my writing ability. My teacher helped by making me think of tools I hadn't thought of before. I didn't fell like it was super helpful to break techniques down so much.

How to apply what I learned: I'll be more confident in myself and let myself just write, without worrying about it being perfect. I can always go back and correct things later. I want to make this my goal in my writing. This will help me to improve my writing, which will help me later in life.
