Thesis Statment
A thesis statement is the soul an essay. Although it is done very briefly, a good thesis statement will tell you reader what it is that you are arguing, why you are right, and how you will prove it. Your thesis statement will foreshadow the rest of your essay and if it is done well, should also be able to act as an outline for the rest of your essay.
There are many places that a thesis statement could be placed within an essay. Many teachers teach that it should be placed at the end of the first paragraph. While this is a good rule of thumb, it does not always have to be in the exact same place. However, a thesis statement should be somewhere toward the beginning of your essay so that your audience knows your argument and where you are going with the rest of your essay.
