Drafting

What is a draft, and why are they so important? A draft can be as simple as a few sentences. As long as you've written something, you have written your first draft. One of the great things about a draft, is that you can have as many as you want, and none of them need to be perfect. A draft can be anything from a few lines, to several pages. It can simply be somewhere to start from, or it can be full, polished piece of work. Drafts are very flexible. They give you the ability to be wherever you need in your writing process, and not to be tied down or restricted. This is one reason why drafts are important. It's really easy to expect perfection from yourself. It's easy to sit down and expect a perfect essay on your first try, but this isn't going to happen. Allow yourself the opportunity to be open and imperfect. This will eventually make you a better writer.
